Current Annoyances
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Current Annoyances
I just got an email from Amazon saying that based on my browsing habits, I may really enjoy Jaws 2.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out what I looked at to deserve that.

You know, you did watch an episode or two of Fuller House. Maybe Netflix and Amazon talk about you behind your back.

If he watched Fuller House surely it would have recommended Jaws:The Revenge?

Also,
When I watched Ghostbusters I did so in a town further south in a newly renovated theater. They had installed recliners, for additional comfort.
It was a terrible idea. They had an automated teller that worked fine, but didn't allow for the Stubs member discount. And two real tellers (one was very slow) for those who wanted to pay less. The we picked our seats and promptly couldn't find them. Turns out the aisle is denoted by a black letter, in a red circle, on the black carpet. And the seat numbers are on a tiny LED screen about two feet up from the floor.
Initially my girlfriend couldn't figure out how to operate them, and I yelled at her when she asked for help because i cold not make mine stop moving. Turns out my increased width, combined with my wallet, was hitting the awkwardly placed controls (they are set inside the armrest) without my knowledge. On the one hand it felt a bit nice to finally be in an Abbot and Costello movie, but on the other...it wasn't.
I had to pretty much hold dead still the entire film in order to not send my chair into convulsions. Plus the middle armrest is not wide enough for two arms, didn't raise far enough to get out of the way, and made holding hands uncomfortable.
And from a business standpoint they went from an auditorium that could hold 300 people at max to one that holds about 120.

Re: Current Annoyances
I have a similar problem with seats on airplanes. My massive thighs will not be contained, regardless of the brave fronts put up by the the drop-down armrest and recliner button. The drop-down armrest is forced upward, and the recliner button is depressed. The only way to ensure that I don't insta-recline when I sit down is to have a recliner button that is also on a drop-down armrest. In that case, I can un-recline as soon as the armrest is driven up past my thighs.Mango wrote:Initially my girlfriend couldn't figure out how to operate them, and I yelled at her when she asked for help because i cold not make mine stop moving. Is that before or after the beautiful woman in quasi-national dress delivers the champagne?

Alabama Airways doesn't have champers? Oh, how terribly quaint.

I suppose you can't drink champagne when you need your mouth to pray out loud as Alabama Airways is the only airline kept flying purely by the power of Gods love.
Only for white folk, and none of them gays either.

I feel I can say this as Goiter hates Alabama more than I hate Manchester.

Re: Current Annoyances
You know that Alabama Airways isn't a thing, right? I guess there was something way back in the thirties, but my guess is that it was some tiny local Birmingham business that dusted crops or took curious rich folk up in the air for fifteen-minute sightseeing flights. Whatever the case, I'd never heard of it, and its status is listed as "Dissolved."

I spent about an hour writing up an awesome post in the Batshit Republicans thread, but when I hit submit I discovered I had been logged out, and when I tried to go back to the previous page to copy my text it wasn't there anymore. Fuck!

The same thing happened to me last week. It's a soul-crushing feeling to lose that much writing.

What was even more soul-crushing was that I essentially decided to take off an hour from work during the day (because it was kind of a slow day and I had worked an extra hour yesterday) in order to write that post, but now I have nothing to show for it.
