Current Annoyances
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Quit almost 20 years ago. I eat lobster and boy oh boy. I get crakin' for a smoke like batshit. And I hate those guys who can go out drinking and have a puff of a cigar and NOT get hooked. Those guys suck.Dalty wrote:No cigarettes for 4.5 months and today cravings hit really bad out of nowhere.

I nearly caved last night while really drunk watching the football.

Re: Current Annoyances
Why would caving matter if you were that drunk? How would you go out to get the cigarettes? Does your girlfriend smoke? Were you around people who would have given you some? Is there a cigarette machine within stumbling distance? Do you still have some around the house? If you still have some around the house, can you really say you've quit?

I was watching the footie in a bar with a convenience store across the street and among colleagues who had smokes on them.

"Footie" sounds like a word meant to describe a foot fetishist whose foot fetishism has taken a particularly snobby turn.

Re: Current Annoyances
"Gridiron" sounds like a grid made of iron. This is also one of the things it is. These actual iron grids can be used for cooking or torture.
"Gridiron" is also not typically used by itself to describe the actual game of North American football. It's typically used as an adjective. When it's used as a noun in the context of North American football, it's used to describe the field the game is played on. That's my understanding, at least. The weirdos in Wisconsin and Minnesota may use the word differently, but I don't think they do. It may be used by Brits and Australians to mean North American football, but I don't know of any actual North Americans who use it this way. Do Canadians use it this way? They're North Americans. I don't think they do, but who knows? If only we had a couple Canadians on hand!
Whatever the case, I suspect you may be trying to make fun of us for using a nickname we don't even use. I think you may be making fun of a nickname your country gave our sport. If this is the case, you're making fun of a nickname of your country's own creation. If this is the case, you and I are essentially doing the same thing.

Re: Current Annoyances
I cannot speak for Wisconsin, but in Minnesota we only use "gridiron" to describe the field the game is played on, and use it incredibly rarely at best.

Also, to be clear, I will never in my life attempt or have any desire to speak for the weirdos in Wisconsin.

You're better off that way, I think.
I made some changes in the middle of your posting. You may want to reread what I wrote to make sure my changes didn't screw with your post's intentions.

I refuse to support Canadian football. Unless we get a team east of Montreal my opinion will not change.

Fucking Netflix. Putting my subs up from £4.99 a month for 5 devices to £7.49 a month for 2 devices.
I only really religiously watch Daredevil on this. Maybe it's time to bin Netflix?

You'll regret binning it the second the next big event show drops.

Could I then pick it up again, binge watch, then bin it again?
