Current Annoyances
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Hooding ceremony sounds sinister and vaguely Klannish.
Nearly as sinister as all that Alpha Kappa Pi bullshit you people do.

I think it sounds more like a reverse circumcision.

It's the kind of thing one might wish to circumvent.

One does form a certain attachment to such things.

Such an attachment can make one circumspect.

You looking for a circumscription, or are you in the market for something more along the lines of a circumdenudation?

Taxi drivers are protesting Uber by slowing down service. 'Cause, that's really the best way to get Torontonians on your side.

I use Uber in my "Don't ever get complacent about your market position, consider the disruptive power of technology!" speech at work when trying to get people to be innovative and challenge the thinking that says because we have always done something a certain way doesn't mean we must always do that.

Current Annoyance
Our air conditioner broke. It's been pretty hot. It's currently at eighty-six degrees Fahrenheit here in the apartment. We have fans going, but it isn't helping much. We're all in various states of undress.
I'm dealing with it all right, but Jubboiter's being a total fucking asshole. (I only slept about an hour and a half last night. That's nothing new, though. There's no way to know when I would have gone to sleep and when I would have woken up if the apartment had been cooler.)
I guess that's my real complaint: Jubboiter's being a total fucking asshole. I know the cause of this and I feel for her, but damn.

That sucks man.
Our air went out around mother's day, but it was only 82 then. I can't imagine suffering in anything higher.

Current Annoyance
Jubboiter and I make a round trip to the YMCA every weekday. Once every other week or so, we stop at a Family Dollar, and I buy Jubboiter a one-dollar bag of cookies.
There's this one sales clerk there who does something that annoys the shit out of me. After I've swiped my card, she'll reach across her counter and presses "Yes" (in answer to whether or not I want to complete the transaction) and "No" (in answer to whether or not I want any cash back) on the card reader's display screen.
We went today, I grabbed the cookies, I handed them to the clerk, she scanned them, and I swiped my card. I then immediately put my finger where I knew the "Yes" would pop up, and the clerk STILL PRESSED THE FUCKING BUTTON. She even pushed my finger out of the way a little bit to do it.
It's not your fucking transaction, lady. It's a goddamn digital contract, and I should be able to sign off on the thing myself. I'm not even sure what she's doing is legal.
I seriously wanted to punch her this time around. Fuck.
Do some people have difficulty with the card reader? Probably. Are some people really slow with it? Probably. I'm sure the clerk has grown impatient with customers after years and years of manning the register, but it shouldn't matter. It's not her place. It's pretty damned presumptuous, too. Maybe I realized I swiped the wrong card. Maybe I want a tenner back. Shit.
I gave her an icy glance and said, "I can do that myself." She didn't meet my glance. She was staring off into space. You know what she said in response? She said, "You too!"
I'm not sure if she just assumed I had told her to have a nice day or if she heard what I said and was trolling me. I'm also not sure which of these two possibilities would annoy me more.
She seems pretty nice, otherwise. Cut off all her fingers, and she'd probably be a decent human being.

I first read that as "Gap yer kids!" and assumed it was some new bit of Limey slang I didn't know.

Jubbers won't let me take a picture of myself, overlay a translucent Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, turn it into my profile pic, and hashtag it with "confederatepride."
