WAYWRN: Because there aren't enough characters in this field
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

If they take what should be a relatively brisk hour long sledgehammer beating and drag it out for hours then they are just being cruel.

If my assailant stopped beating me so the onlookers could watch expensive sponsors messages or so he could change the sledgehammer handle, and head, and himself, then took ages between swings trying to work out where to hit me next, I would conclude he was taking the piss!

The bit with Craig and 'The Duke' debating the street price of the pills is perfect.

I don't know why my memory of it was that it came out in the late '90s. Probably because that's when I watched it on TV.

Wacky Lithgow performances usually age well. This is even true of Raising Cain. The movie's still as terrible as it ever was, but his performance makes watching it worth it.
Lithgow's accent in Cliffhanger is terrible, but I enjoy his performance.

Every time I read the title of this thread, I think Dalty meant to write "wayworn" but messed up.

What I remember most about Cliffhanger is Lithgow keeps talking about his plans in front of Stallone's friend that they'd captured, so then that friend would immediately yell out the plans to Stallone.

Yup, that is pretty much a constant.
So I used to get freaked out when I met people who weren't born when Star Wars was out. Now I know that I know people who weren't born when Cliffhanger was out!

45 replies posted in this thread before I bothered to click it to figure out what the hell WAYWRN stood for. Not a proud moment for me, not proud at all.
But I watched The Armstrong Lie last night. It was good, but not as spectacular as The Spectacular Now was.
Turns out Lance Armstrong is a bit of a manipulative, admirable douche. Who knew?

My mate who rides for Team Sky, the UK cycling team, always said he was. Always said he was a doper, a liar, a cheat and a bully who used his team to attack anyone who threatened to expose him. Was an open secret in cycling for years apparently.

Re: WAYWRN: Because there aren't enough characters in this f
You'd probably dig the documentary then, Dalty. Lance is VERY open about the fact that he was always a doper (from 1999 onwards at least) and seems slightly remorseful, but the film makes it hard to sympathize with him because it contrasts him so starkly against the people whose lives he's ruined because Lance perceived them as a threat.
I feel like it's tricky to call him a "cheat" necessarily. Doping in cycling does seem to be the same problem which baseball dealt with in the 1990s-early 2000s. Does it still count as cheating when everyone is doing it?
It does, justifiably, give him credit for all the cancer research fundraising he's done though. Gotta admire the guy for that.
