Current Non-Annoyance

The Book of Mormon.

Legitimately the first time in my life I've laughed until I cried. And then again in the second act even more so. My head hurt from laughing, my stomach muscles hurt from laughing, and it passed the Six Laughs Test in something like nine seconds. It was one of those rare things that actually lives up to the hype. Y'all should see it if ever you get the chance.

I loved The Book of Mormon, and this is coming from a guy who usually doesn't care about musicals. Parker and Stone know what they're doing, though.

Non-annoyance: Fondue! Who knew! Tasty dinner tonight, cheesy first course, cook your own second course with choice of 8 dips, chocolate-Grand Marnier third course ON FIRE! It's like an apocalypse of cooking!

Going to a fondue "restaurant" seems like an odd choice. If I wanted to pay to cook my own food, I'd do it at home - and for less money.

I think a lot of people just go to chat while they drink and dip things in melty chocolate and cheese. I guess it would be kinda neat if it were affordable. It's novelty, status, and "sophistication" all wrapped up and presented with a fat, floppy bow. I'm told the atmosphere is also more conducive to group conversation, since few people are eating outright meals, and since they're all huddled around a pot o' hot. My father and I weren't really chatty with one another, so I don't know. What I do know is that my father paid something like eighty bucks (in the nineties!) for the two of us to spear finger foods and dip them in melty chocolate and cheese. Why'd he do it? Because we walked past a fondue restaurant and I asked, "Just what is 'fondue,' anyway?" I think I was twelve or thirteen.

Well, the first course had a Gruyere with garlic and it was awesome on apples, grapes, and breads. It was fun cooking the second course ourselves, it forced us to slow down. And the chocolate, well, duh! Of course, this enjoyment may have been helped along with the matching wine for each course.

Fondue is kinda the byword for the naffness of the 70s over here. But it's all the rage in ski resorts!

Our landlord came and we got the washer/dryer situation straightened out and learned that we have a dishwasher available for our use! Oh happy days! O joy! O sweet glorious dishwasher!
